Grenada Co-operative Bank Limited, fondly referred to as Co-op Bank, has a rich history in Grenada. Since its inception in 1932, Co-op Bank has grown and developed with the Grenadian people, leading the way on many remarkable accomplishments for the country. The history of Co-op Bank is the history of Grenada.
Co-op Bank was established by a group of local businessmen who wished to create a banking institution for local working-class families who could not afford the minimum £1 to open accounts at the other foreign owned banks. As a result, Co-op Bank’s starting balance of one penny differentiated it as an indigenous bank and gave it the longstanding name “the Penny Bank”.
Today, Co-op Bank has grown from a fledgling financial institution to one of the largest, with over $1.6 billion in assets, over 67,000 customers, and over 250 employees across five Retail Banking Units and a Head Office. The Bank’s core strategy remains one of customer centricity, where the customer is placed at the heart of every decision, process, product, and service.
Co-op Bank employs a cadre of over 250 talented, dedicated and well-trained staff members across five (5) Retail Banking Units and a Head Office.
