Alana Twum-Barimah appointed as Corporate Secretary/Executive Manager, Legal & Compliance
On October 14th, 2019 Mrs. Alana Twum-Barimah joined the team at Grenada Co-operative Bank Limited – Grenada’s largest indigenous commercial bank with assets of over $1.0b; five (5) Retail Banking Units (branches) and a network of over twenty-five (25) Automatic Teller Machines.
Mrs. Twum-Barimah has been appointed the Bank’s Corporate Secretary/Executive Manager, Legal & Compliance. In this role, she has the core responsibility to maintain the integrity of the governance framework within the Bank; and to lead the Legal and Compliance functions.
Significantly, Mrs. Twum-Barimah assumes the role of Corporate Secretary from Mr. Richard W. Duncan, Managing Director. The separation of the two roles of Managing Director and Corporate Secretary marks a new era for the Bank, elevating its governance and corporate governance practices to new heights and in line with best practice.
Mrs. Twum-Barimah is an Attorney-at-Law and has served as Deputy Registrar and Registrar of the Supreme Court of Grenada for the last nine (9) years. She possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology & Business Management (from Cameron University in 2002) and a Bachelor of Law degree (from the University of the West Indies in 2007). She obtained her Certificate of Legal Education from the Hugh Wooding Law School in 2009 and is currently completing her Masters in International Business Law with the University of Liverpool.
Alana Twum-Barimah brings a history of excellent legal, analytical and administrative skills to the Bank.
